Ryan Truex Nashville Results Posted on NJ.com

Ryan Truex was the only hope for Garden State race fans of Nascar this weekend. The Sprint Cup series is off for the Easter weekend so we don't get to see Martin Truex Jr. and his Napa team in action.
The Nascar Nationwide Series was in Nashville this Saturday, and Ryan was returning to drive after two weeks on the sidelines due to wrist surgery. For a complete run down of how our Mayetta, New Jersey driver did click on the link below to my NJ.com post.

Martin Truex Jr. Talladega Qualifying Results Posted

I just posted the qualifying results for Martin Truex Jr. at Talladega on NJ.com. Check them out and become a follower of all the local racing action at New Jersey Auto Racing.
On a more personal note, Steve Park qualified for the Aarons 499 in a second Tommy Baldwin Racing car. While not from Jersey, he is from Long Island, not far away. He was a great Nascar Modified driver who then went on to driving for the late Dale Earnhardt. After suffering a severe head injury, many felt his career was over. He has been battling back ever since.
I was at Flemington Speedway when Park's Sunoco Modified went higher in the air than I ever thought a car could go. He represented the Modified division that many of us here have loved most of our lives.
I hope he gets a chance to run the whole race, afterall at Talladega all you need to do is survive to have a chance to win. Ask Brad Keselowski or Trevor Bayne.

Show your love for the Mighty Modifieds this season with one of these hats or shirts. They are available through Cafepress at the JERZEEBABY Store. Kevin Harvick Has Already Made The Chase

When Nascar changed the procedures for qualifying for The Chase, it was done to put an emphasis on winning. Well it seems the first to get that memo was the Budweiser driver Kevin Harvick. His two early season wins have practically guaranteed him a spot in The Chase.
Sadly, for Jersey's Martin Truex Jr., wins are starting to look like his only chance to make The Chase.
Check out my theory at Kevin Harvick Has Already Qualified and let me know what you think.

Danica Patrick Revealed

We all know who she is, Danica Patrick, race car driver, GoDaddy.com girl, and for us here in Jersey, the chick who got into an argument with one of our own, Ryan Truex.
I have to admit up until Bristol I actually wanted her to do well. Not for any of the reasons many would think, but because I tend to root for the underdog. Her latest tantrum, and the unnecessary apology from Ryan, made me think, why should he apologize to her? What has she done to warrant any true respect on the track. I decided to look into her auto racing past to really see what her credentials are.
The most glaring thing missing from her statistics are victories. Check it out for yourself at Danica Patrick and let me know what from her past qualifies her for the opportunities she has received.

New Local Racing Blog on NJ.com

I have just recently been given the priviledge of becoming the new local auto racing blogger for the website NJ.com. The site is the online destination of the Star Ledger, Trenton Times, Jersey Journal, and nine other publications.
I will be giving updates on upcoming events at Bridgeport Speedway, Wall Stadium, New Egypt Speedway, Raceway Park and NJ Motorsports Park. The blog will also post the results of the previous week's action.
As a blog about NJ racing, I will also be following the careers of drivers from our state as they compete in a number of different series, most notably the Truex brothers.
So check out my first blog post at New Jersey Auto Racing and please let me know of any local racing stories you feel need to be told. See you at the track!

New Egypt Speedway's Opening Night Sponsored by Wall Stadium

There is plenty of racing action on tap in NJ this weekend. Wall Stadium will host it's second paid practice of the year this Saturday April 9 starting at 11AM. The practice is free to the public.
As soon as practice wraps up at Wall, the track's new promoter, Cliff Krause, and most of his staff will head over to New Egypt Speedway for that track's opening night. While Krause is a fan of the racing at New Egypt, he will have a much bigger purpose.
In a move that seems a little odd, Wall Stadium will be the opening night sponsor for New Egypt. The move is odd because not only are the tracks only miles apart, but they also race on the same night. The management of Wall and New Egypt have agreed to work together to cross promote each other.
The staff of Wall will be on hand to hand out schedules and make announcements about upcoming events. This will surely be a scene to remember for local racing fans.
The gates at New Egypt will open at 4PM, with racing starting at 6PM. Admission is $20 for adults, military & seniors $18, students(12-15) $10, and children under 11 are free.

Wall Stadium Practice Photos Posted

The first of two paid practice sessions was held on Saturday April 2nd. The weather was great for early April and particularly Wall Stadium. Photos from the session have been posted on the track's website along with a flyer you can print and hand out to promote the track.
I will soon be doing a racing blog for the website NJ.com so if you have any stories that would be of local interest leave a comment and I will check it out. Also any racing events or sponsor activities that you would like promoted.

Martin Truex jr. Takes Hard Hit at Martinsville

Martin Truex jr., NJ's Sprint Cup hope, took an extremely hard hit today at Martinsville Speedway. Truex struggled most of the day, going a lap down early. He fought back to become the first car a lap down and was awarded the Aaron's Lucky Dog.
Shortly after that the throttle stuck on the Napa Toyota taking him and Kasey Kahne, who was running in front of him at the time. The car hit the wall violently and momemtarily caught fire. Truex was unhurt and quickly ran from his car to check on Kahne, who was also unhurt.
The wreck was one of the worst seen at Martinsville in recent memory and was a testament to the safety measures instituted by Nascar.
A 40th place finish may have hurt Truex more than the crash. Bad day for Jersey, and Truex, in the Sprint Cup. Oh and by the way Harvick won by passing Dale Earnhardt jr. late in the race.
