The official race season doesn't start at New Egypt Speedway until April 9th. However, lucky for us race fans in NJ the track is presenting the "Cabin Fever Challenge" this Saturday March 26th. The unique format of this event only adds to it's excitement.
Any race in NJ that offers a $5,000 purse to win will bring out the best competitors throughout the area. Give those same racers a chance to win more than double that and the action is sure to be intense. You see, racers in this event will be able to post an additional $200 entry fee which if they should win the race doubles the purse to $10,000. There is also $1,000 in lap money available.
The entry list for this event reads like a who's who of Northeast dirt track stars. Brett Hearn, Matt Sheppard, Billy Pauch, Jimmy Horton, and Syracuse winner Stewart Friesen will take on the track's regular competitors. In fact, qualifying for the feature event will be quite a fete.
Should the Modifieds, running 60 laps not be enough for you, the Sportsman will also be competing in a 40 lap race with a potential purse of up to $2,000. They also have the chance to double their winnings.
The track is located at 720 Route 539 in New Egypt, not far from Great Adventure. Gates open at 2PM, with hot laps of practice starting at 3PM, and the actual racing action starts at 4PM. Admission for adults is $25, students 12-15 yr.old $10, and children 11 and under admitted free.
