The latest rumors concerning the future of current Richard Childress Racing driver Clint Bowyer are that he will end up in a Toyota in 2012, driving for Michael Waltrip Racing. While that has not yet been confirmed, MWR did announce the hiring of another RCR employee.
Scott Miller will become the executive vice president of competition for MWR beginning at the conclusion of the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule. Miller was a race-winning crew chief in the past, and most recently held the position of director of competition at RCR. He has worked for RCR since 1997, with the exception of one season.
Moves like this, and the potential signing of Clint Bowyer, can only serve to benefit NJ's Martin Truex Jr. and his NAPA Toyota team. The MWR team seems to be one of the few teams looking to expand, rather than contract. By adding individuals with a proven track record, with experience from a winning organization like RCR, the MWR teams seem to be looking to take their performance to the next level.
Hopefully, this move will be one of the final pieces needed to get the Garden State's Truex to where he wants to be. Challenging for both wins, and championships.
