Pocono Gives Fans a Chance to Meet Two Incredible NJ Residents

Pocono Speedway, this weekend, will bring the opportunity for many New Jersey residents to get to see their NASCAR Sprint Cup heroes compete on a track close to home. While many will make the trip looking to cheer on drivers like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, or even home-state favorite Martin Truex Jr., two NJ race fans will be at the Pennsylvania track looking to continue their charitable work that has garnered them recognition from NASCAR, itself.
Patty Aber, and Gerry Clauss, will be working a booth for the NASCAR Foundation somewhere near the many trailers, just outside the grandstands, selling every type of NASCAR collectible imagineable. While they won't be hawking the latest Paul Menard Brickyard 400 win shirt, they will be selling something that will cost you far less, but will make you feel so much better than any shirt ever could.
Patty and Gerry will be selling NASCAR Unites wristbands for $5, of which every penny goes to support various children's charities, and NASCAR Day pins for $10, of which all the money donated goes to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. The wristbands allow you to show your pride of being a NASCAR fan, and support many great causes. The pins, are very limited, so get over to see Patty and Gerry early, pick one up, and help send a kid to camp.
I got the chance to talk to both Patty and Gerry when I interviewed them for a post on NJ.com. They are both special people who put the needs of children before their own enjoyment. While both are race fans, they choose to spend their time at the NASCAR Foundation booth looking to raise money for charity, rather than head up into the grandstands and enjoy the race.
So if you are headed out to Pocono this weekend, make sure you search out these two great people. Just meeting them will make your race weekend that much more enjoyable, and pick up a wristband, or pin, or both. Then head up to the grandstands and enjoy the race knowing you have done something to help a kid somewhere. It may be the best Pocono weekend you have ever had.
I have included a link to my NJ.com post on Patty and Gerry. Check it out, I'm sure you will come away as impressed with them as I did, and you will definitely want to meet these two special individuals.
