Hurricane Irene has caused all three oval tracks in NJ to cancel their racing programs for this weekend. I hope everyone is well-prepared, and that you all will stay safe. I also hope that none of our precious racetracks suffer any substantial damage.
Sadly, should Wall Stadium receive damage to the racing surface, or the spectator areas, I just don't know if this track, which has struggled the last few years, will survive. With owners who are looking to sell the property for something other than a racetrack, it would be difficult to convince them to rebuild the facility.
New Egypt Speedway and Bridgeport Speedway both have ownership that is committed to their respective tracks. While significant damage may cause the two dirt tracks to miss some events, they would certainly rebuild, and return.
Stay safe everyone, and I hope none of us lose power before the Bristol race is over.
