When qualifying gets underway, this weekend, for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race there will be a former Modified Series great behind the wheel of a second car for Tommy Baldwin Racing. The driver, however, may not be the one most were expecting.
Steve Park was originally scheduled to compete in a Len Boehler tribute car, but due to a lack of funds those plans were delayed. Pending the team raising enough money, Park will attempt to qualify at New Hampshire, later in the year, in the tribute car. In fact, fans can donate toward the sponsorship and get their name placed on the car by going to the team's website at http://www.tommybaldwinracing.com/.
The driver replacing Park is also a former Modified great, and Sprint Cup race winner, Geoff Bodine. The veteran, originally from New York, has brought a much needed sponsor with him to the number 35. Bodine is planning to run the entire race with Tommy Baldwin, himself, serving as crew chief.
Good to see the Modified guys sticking together, good luck Geoff, and who knows, if Trevor Bayne can win Daytona why can't Bodine?
