Joe Gibbs Racing Cars Illegal in Michigan

All three Nascar Sprint Cup cars of Joe Gibbs Racing were found to be illegal during opening day inspection at Michigan. Nascar found all three, the Fedex number 11 of Denny Hamlin, the M &M's number 18 of Kyle Busch, and the Home Depot number 20 of Joey Logano to have unapproved oil pans.
Nascar made the teams remove the pans, and replace them before the first practice, so there will be no penalty to the teams at the track. However, during practice the number 20 of Joey Logano had engine problems, forcing them to change engines.
Observers in the garage area thought the oil pans in question looked like they weighed upwards of 20 pounds, compared to the normal weight of several pounds or less.
Nascar will announce penalties later next week.
